Pretend You're Good at it Printable

Okay, I'm going to be real with you.  I try to look put together but I'm not.  I'm almost always late to things, I forget things easily, and I struggle with social anxiety.  Some days I have a hard time just leaving my house.  I'm reading an autobiography right now called "Furiously Happy" by Jenny Lawson.  Not only is she absolutely hilarious but she also writes about things that I've felt but never really put into words.  One of the most relatable things she talks about is that when she is nervous about doing something she will just pretend that she's good at it.

When I read that I got more and more excited because this is something that actually helps me! When I have to stand in front of people and give a speech, I pretend that I'm someone that actually enjoys public speaking.  When I have to go up to someone I don't know and talk to them, I pretend that my heart isn't beating out of my chest.  I pretend to be confident and it works!  Sometimes I picture someone I know that's really good at being social and I pretend that I'm like that person.  

If I didn't "fake it till you make it" than I would never have the courage to try.  I have to pretend to be brave to be brave.  That's ok because I'll get there.  I'll get better little by little.  I wanted to make a printable that will remind me to "pretend to be good at it" and I wanted to share it with you too.  If you never need to pretend to be brave or put together than feel free to skip this post but if you're like me, I'm sending you virtual hugs and hope this little printable will remind you that it's okay to pretend that you're not afraid because one day we won't be.  <3
