DIY Fireworks Headband

Did your mom ever put embarrassingly big bows on you when you were a kid?  Mine did, and I used to die when I saw the pictures and now I totally get it.  Maybe the bows I put on my kids aren't 80's style big, but putting cute things in their hair is sooo fun! I saw this cute tutorial for making felt flower headbands by Something Turquoise (see tutorial HERE) and decided I wanted to make something like that for my girls for the 4th of July.  It's really easy and takes only a few minutes to make!

You'll need:

Red, White, and Blue Felt
Glue Gun
Scissors
Ribbon or Elastic

Start off with cutting out a long rectangle in each color.  Mine is 2 1/2" x 5"

Next, fold it in half hotdog style (haha remember that from grade school?) and glue it together. Then make small slits in it all the way across.  I did small slits and then went back and made longer cuts (cut till it almost reaches the end) because I felt like it went faster this way.

When you're done it should look something like this.

Now all you do is roll it up and glue as you go.

Now take your ribbon or elastic and cut out two small rectangles in white felt.  Mine are 1" x 2 1/2" . Place one behind the ribbon and one on top and glue them together with the ribbon in between them

Then all that's left is to arrange your firework flowers how you want and glue them to the felt. Then tie it around your little honey's head!

Don't I have the cutest little model??  She is the most smiley happy baby.  OK, she might look back at these pictures like I did at my bows, but I don't even care.  She's way too cute!
